Dr. A. Murat Yildirim

Ahmet Murat Yildirim was born in Gemlik/Bursa in 1967. He studied Mechanical Engineering and took his Ph.D. at University of Uludag, Turkey. He then joined Balikesir University in 1988 being the youngest academician of Turkey in this field. In the same year, he achieved the Academic Leadership and/or Accomplishment prize in "Ten Outstanding Young Persons in the World". He directed the section of the energy sciences of the department and worked as Assistant Professor for 10 years. He has around 50 scientific papers presented in conferences and published in journals. His Ford career started in 1998 in the Department of Product Development as Qualified Combustion/Emission Techologies Specialist. He was promoted to Coordinator of R&D Department in 2002 and R&D Manager in 2007. Since September 2009, he has been appointed R&D Manager of Turkish Petroleum Refineries C.O. (TUPRAS) where he is currently leading the company’s R&D projects. In addition his duty inside of TUPRAS, he also works for Koc Holding Energy Group as the Research and Development Coordinator. He also manages many other collaborations among Tubitak Research Center and universities. He is the founder and the chairman of ICAT conferences. He is married and has a son.
Prof.Dr. Can Erkey
KOC UNIVERSITY Chemical and Biology Engennering Institute
Prof. Erkey received his B.Sc. from Bogazici University in 1984. He continued his studies in Chemical Engineering at the University of Bradford where he received his M.Sc. from University of Bradford in 1985 and his Ph.D. at Texas A&M University in 1989. He worked at the Texas A&M University as a postdoctoral fellow. He received the Associate Professor title from University of Connecticut in 2001. He was appointed Department Head of Materials and Biomolecular Engineering in December 2005 and later received the Professor title in August 2006. Prof. Erkey joined Koç University in September 2006 as Professor, to Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. He received Rogers Outstanding Teacher Award, University of Connecticut, Department of Chemical Engineering, both in 1998 and 2001. He also received Best fundamental paper award for 1993 with C. Thibaud and A. Akgerman for his paper, Investigation of the Effect of Moisture on the Adsorption and Desorption of Chlorobenzene and Toluene from Soil. He is currently in the Editoral Board of Journal of Supercritical Fluids. He has over 80 publications and more than 1500 citations. His research interests are nanostructured materials, catalysis and supercritical fluids.
Gurcan Ozan
TUBITAK FP7 Transport & Energy National Contact Point
Gürcan OZAN received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Marmara University of Istanbul. During his undergraduate days, he has achieved the Dean’s Special Award for his contributions to the quality improvement studies at the Faculty. Since 2000 he has been working at the Scientific and The Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) in several divisions. He is the FP7 Transport and Energy National Contact Point and he was engaged in the creation of the Turkish Research Area, FP7 National Coordination System. He was responsible from several FP7 Support Action projects, an entrepreneurship project supported by UNDP and other various organisational development projects in his past experience at TUBITAK. He was also the officer for the communications division of TUBITAK for one year. TUBITAK has appointed him to a temporary work in Turkish Research and Business Organisations (TuR&Bo) in Brussels for networking and lobbying in FP7. His main areas of scientific concentration are Sustainable Surface Transport and Energy Research. He has conducted a study on “R&D Networking Environments in Surface Transport Research” for the Turkish research community.
Irmak Kockan Ersolmaz

Irmak Koçkan Ersolmaz studied Mechanical Engineering and received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Istanbul Technical University, Turkey in 2006 and 2009, respectively. She started her career at Ford Otosan in the R&D Coordination Management Department as an R&D Engineer, in 2006. In November 2009, she joined Turkish Petroleum Refineries Co. (TUPRAS) as R&D Project Engineer and is currently responsible from managing and directing the R&D projects of the company. She’s the main organizer and the conference scientific secretariat of ICAT (International Conference on Automotive and Energy Technologies) Conferences.
Prof. Dr. Metin Ergeneman
ISTANBUL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY Mechanical Engineering Department
Metin Ergeneman was born in 1944 in Ergani. He was graduated from Kabatas High School in 1961 and was graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Mechanical Engineering Department in 1966. From 1970 to 1973, he worked as a researcher in German Aviation and Space Research Organization. He became an Associate Professor in 1988 and was appointed to professorship in 1997. He is a Mechanical Engineering Professor in Automotive Sciences in Istanbul Technical University for the time being.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tiris
TUBITAK MARMARA RESEARCH CENTER Energy Institute Chairman
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa TIRIS was born in 1965 in Izmir, Turkey. He received his B.Sc. from Istanbul Technical University - Petroleum Engineering Department. He continued his studies at the Aegean University – Solar Energy Institute where he received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. He worked at the University of Leeds as a postdoctoral fellow and received the Associate Professor title on Renewable Energies from the Higher Education Council of Turkey. Dr. Tiris joined the Marmara Research Center of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (MRC at TUBIİTAK) in 1990 as a Researcher. During the course of his employment he became a Senior Researcher, Deputy Institute Director and finally Institute Director. Currently, he occupies the position of the Director of the Energy Institute at TUBITAK MRC, while serving as the Deputy Director of the MRC Environment Institute at the same time. He also carries out the delegation duties at the International Energy Agency – Committee on Energy Research and Technology and NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Science Committee. Dr. Tiris authored or co-authored over 100 articles, books and communiqués, many of which are cited works.
